San Ramon is well known for its farmers market (Feria del Agrucultor) every Saturday where buyers show up even from San Jose.

Many of the locals live from cultivating coffee and sugar cane.

The most famous descendent of San Ramon is, without a doubt, Jose Maria Figueres Ferrer, the three time president of Costa Rica. His birth place in San Ramon now is a museum.
