The Wilson Botanical Garden is close, founded in 1962 by Robert and Catherine Wilson. In the past the grounds of the botanical garden were used to grow coffee. Later they were deforested for cattle ranching. Since then nature has recuperated and the flora and fauna are very diverse again.
For birdwatchers Wilson Botanical Garden is a real paradise, 320 species have been spotted here.
Close to San Vito are some Indian Reservations, the Indians still live by their traditions and have very little contact with persons outside the reservation.
The small town of San Vito has 10,000 inhabitants and is a nice location to spend the night or to have a good meal.
