A beautiful place in the Caribbean of Costa Rica, located between Playa Cocles and Manzanillo.
Driving from Puerto Viejo in the direction of Panama one passes Punta Uva after a few kilometers. Punta Uva is a real pearl on the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica.
A part of Punta Uva is located within the natural reserve of Gandoca-Manzanillo, because of that real estate development is restricted in this area, conserving the natural beauty. To reach the beach one has to turn off the main road, route 36 runs a bit further inland here.
The water at the beach is crystal clear and you will often have this gorgeous beach all to yourself. The scenery is postcard like, here the sea is calm and the conditions are good for swimming and snorkeling. The tourism boom hasn't fully hit the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica like it has on the Pacific coast.
The town of Punta Uva is a small town of a few hotels and restaurants, well-known by the friendly way of its people.
